Catholic Social Teachings

At our school, Catholic Social Teaching (CST) helps us to understand how our faith calls us to live and how we can make a positive difference in the world around us. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, it reminds us that every person is precious, created and loved by God, and deserving of dignity, respect and compassion.

Through our curriculum, prayer, worship and everyday school life, we encourage our children to put their faith into action. We learn that we have a responsibility to care for one another, particularly those who are poor, vulnerable or in need, and to speak up when something is unfair. We also recognise our responsibility to care for God’s creation and to be thoughtful stewards of our common home.

Our children explore the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching, including human dignity, the common good, solidarity, subsidiarity, participation, care for creation, the dignity of work and a preferential option for the poor. These principles help children to think carefully about the choices they make and the part they can play in building a fairer, kinder and more peaceful world.

Catholic Social Teaching is not something we simply learn about; it is something we are called to live. We provide opportunities for our children to lead, serve others, support charities, care for our environment and respond to local and global issues. In doing so, we encourage every child to recognise that even small actions can make a difference.

Through CST, we aim to nurture compassionate, responsible and courageous young people who understand that we are all part of one human family and who are inspired to follow Jesus’ example by showing love through their words and actions.
